Sometimes you get so enamored with a new feature that you forget about that pesky "x times per day" qualifier. And then you realize at a pivotal moment that you are low or out of uses.

Heh, what is really tricky is when it isn't "X per day" but "Has a cooldown period when you cannot use it."

Even I'm getting tired of me referencing a system that has next-to-nothing to do with the comic, but GURPS is what I know... and it has a life-saving Advantage (Feat) called "Luck". Anytime a dice roll directly affects your character (including ones you make yourself), you can roll three times and take the most desirable result. You can even decide to use it after a bad roll, in which case you just roll twice more before choosing. If it sounds absolutely busted... it has an hour-long cool down. Not in "game time", but in play time. So... do you keep using it right away to maximize how often it can help you out, or do you save it for when you really need it? Something in between?

Oh, and do you have a ballpark figure for how much HP the Hulk has? My lack of practical D&D experience already has me wondering how bad the situation is supposed to be, but then I realized I don't know if Hulk is one good hit away from being taken out, or eight? ^^'

Giving something a real time cooldown sounded really weird to me at first, I'll admit. But considering it's supposed to be Luck, that's actually brilliant. An hour real time could be five minutes later in game-time, or two hours, or even a week, which really helps sell the concept that Luck is a fickle thing and you can't fully rely on it.

And to answer your question, I figure Hulk's HP is somewhere in the neighborhood of "higher than 120, but lower than 150". I also envisioned the Phase One characters as being around 7th/8th level, but I'm not sure if that helps the comparison any. XD

Thanks for letting me know about the HP. Even without knowing the finer points of HP in D&D, it gives me a lot better idea of how serious Hulk's situation is.

Glad you liked how Luck works in GURPS. It wasn't listed in Basic Set, but later expansions did allow you to switch it to game time but... that still proves pretty chaotic. After all, what are the odds your GM will spoon-feed you moments according to your in-game timer anymore than your out-of-game timer?
