When discussing this page with people I know in real life, I called this "the dumbest idea I've had for the comic so far". I stand by that label, but I also do not regret it.
I'm curious anyone who can read that language, what are they actually saying?
But yeah, grappling in almost every game is pure nonsense. Building a machine, or uncovering ancient traps shouldn't be easier to understand then grappling someone else, and yet it's that way in so many rpg systems. Weird how that's the case.
It's broken Japanese that's overly polite, with grammar errors, and choice of words that no actual Japanese would normally say so the conclusion is that it's definitely machine translation Japanese. It worked on making it really funny to read, haha!
Anyway, machine translated Japanese is actually harder to translate back to English than just translating actual Japanese to English but luckily I'm used to it. So for those wondering what the actual dialogues are, it should be something like this:
・PANEL 3:
Scarlett: I'll use my AOO to restrain his arm! <rolls> 29!
Sarah: Got it, but we still need to resolve the attack. <rolls> 21?
Scarlett: Not even close. I'll try to overbear him. <rolls> 31, that's good enough right? If not, I still got some reroll options.
・PANEL 4:
Sarah: Alright, the wire is around his neck now but if you want to keep it that way you're gonna have to dodge the next guard.
Scarlett: Should be easy enough. Do your worst.
Sarah: So the guard... <rolls> Damn, it's an 18! I guess this just isn't the night for these guys.
・PANEL 5:
Scarlett: You said it. Not only did he missed, but I'll follow up on his failure with my own retaliation attack. If it succeeds, I'll take down the guy I grappled with as well!
Then it follows to the now English again panel 6 where she indeed took both of them down.
